Colgate Max White One Toothpaste

About a month ago, in my post about the Product Of the Year Community Event, I told you that in the bag of winning items I received the Colgate Max White One Toothpaste. I said I would try it for a while and possibly report back. Well I have used it for over a month now and here is what I have to say about it.

Firstly, Colgate’s claim is that this Max White One Toothpaste will make your teeth one shade whiter in one week.

The box says it can be used 2-3 times a day. I brush my teeth more than 2-3 times a day so I used this Max White One Toothpaste 3 times a day and I used a non whitening Aqua-Fresh toothpaste, I happened to have in the house, the other times that I brushed my teeth each day.

Every time I brushed my teeth, regardless of the toothpaste I was using, I used the same Oral-B electric toothbrush I always use.

I have never used a whitening toothpaste before. Not that I am in desperate need of whitening my teeth but I think almost everyone can look a little better with somewhat whiter teeth. I did try whitening strips years ago but they caused my more sensitive teeth immense pain so I stopped using them and never tried any other teeth whitening product since then. I was happy that this Colgate Max White One Toothpaste did not cause me any pain, like those whitening stripes did.

It’s hard for me to say whether or not the Max White One Toothpaste actually made my teeth one shade whiter in a week, or in a month for that matter. It sort of depends on what you consider a "shade" to be. Yes my teeth were a drop whiter after a week of using this toothpaste but not anything that was really noticeable to anyone who would have looked at my teeth. The photos I took before and after do not look any different in my opinion. But if I study my teeth I can sort of see a slight difference. Still, I don’t think I would consider it a full shade lighter.

As I continued using the toothpaste throughout the month I can’t say I saw any change after that initial change toward a lighter shade.

I stopped using the toothpaste now because I do not think it cleans as well as most other toothpastes I have used. Within a few minutes of brushing my teeth with this Colgate Max White One Toothpaste my teeth did not feel fresh and clean anymore and I wanted to re-brush them with a different toothpaste. This Max White One Toothpaste seemed to have left some sort of a residue on my teeth that gave the feeling that they had not been properly cleaned. It really bothered me. Had the whitening really made a big difference I would have continued using this toothpaste in conjunction with some other toothpaste just to get the whitening benefits but since I did not think this Colgate Max White One Toothpaste really whitens all that well I see no reason to continue using a toothpaste that I did not feel properly cleans my teeth.

Bottom Line: I have read other reviews online from people who think this toothpaste really lives up to its claims and they really liked it but I can't recommend that you buy this Colgate Max White One Toothpaste. I do not think it whitens all that much and I surely do not think it cleaned my teeth very well. I do not plan on using it any more.
