Elite's Summer Chocolates

פינוק מיוחד למקרר
שוקולד במילוי מוס
As you may have noticed I reviewed quite a few ice-creams (1, 2 ,3 & 4) so far this season, actually there are a few more I could, should and might review yet, but the reason for so many new ice-creams is because in the hot Israeli summer ice-creams are often the "go to" treat jumping ahead of chocolates, which are very popular in the winter months. Seeing as chocolate can't really sit on store shelves in the heat without melting and turning into a disappointing mess. Plus if they are kept in the store refrigerator they just don’t taste the same. Elite obviously knows that their chocolate sales take a deep dive in the summer months and have a new product out now to try and combat this problem. They have developed a chocolate made specifically for the refrigerator. The idea is that storing it in the refrigerator would improve upon the taste and not ruin it.

This new and innovative line of Elite chocolates comes in three flavors; White Chocolate filled with Strawberry flavored Mousse, Milk Chocolate filled with Truffle Mousse and White Chocolate filled with Ice-Coffee flavored Mousse.

I'm not a huge fan of strawberry flavored chocolates so I skipped that one and tasted the other two.

I thought that the consistency of the chocolate and the mousse filling were not hindered by the fact that the bars were sitting in my refrigerator for a few days. The chocolate coating was hard but not too hard and the mousse filling was soft and creamy. So in that way I think this is a success for Elite.

I do have to mention that I did not think it was a high quality chocolate to start with. Yes I have tasted worse and more grainy chocolates but these two chocolates did have a somewhat chalky taste to them.

As a whole these chocolate bars were not awful and the mousse fillings did resemble the flavors they were intended to be but I would not say that they were an amazing chocolate bar by any means.

Bottom Line: I do give Elite credit for trying something new & different and attempting to make a summer chocolate but I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the chocolate itself. Even some of Elites other "parah" (cow) chocolates seem to be of a higher quality, so I know they can do a better job at it. For now I will stick to Strauss's Light Blueberry Yogurt Pops or watermelon as my "go to" summer treats and save the chocolates for the cooler months.

85 gram bar – 8.55 NIS (If you don’t see these in the chocolate aisle look for them in the refrigerator section of your supermarket.)

  2. Cool that you found them in the USA thanks for telling me.
I wonder if they will do well there and I wonder how many people actually keep them in the refrigerator:)
